About the Exhibition
Future Fossils presents a possible future view of the present, a moment frozen in time and culture. The artworks—imagined relics—come from artists based in North America, Latin America, and Europe. While each artist explores different paths and issues, together their works suggest the remains of an apocalypse. Offering a snapshot of how we live today, Future Fossils reveals aspects of our lives left behind for later generations to decode.
Featuring work by Ai Weiwei, Sanford Biggers, Izaak Brandt, Jedediah Caesar, Julian Charrière, Tania Pérez Córdova, Liz Glynn, Maureen Gruben, Matthew Angelo Harrison, William Lamson, James Lewis, Jean-Luc Moulène, Reynier Leyva Novo, Studio Drift, Do Ho Suh, Clarissa Tossin, Marion Verboom, and Rachel Whiteread.
Future Fossils was organized by the MassArt Art Museum, Boston, MA and curated by c² curatorsquared, a curatorial partnership between Ginger Gregg Duggan and Judith Hoos Fox.

Artist Talk | William Lamson
Wednesday, February 25, 2026 | 5:30 - 6:30 p.m.
Torggler Lecture Hall
Join us for an evening with William Lamson, an interdisciplinary artist whose piece Thermal Fountain is currently on view in Future Fossils. Based in Brooklyn, Lamson’s practice centers on “generative artworks” that unfold over time in gallery settings and far-flung landscapes.
Working with elemental forces to create durational performative actions, Lamson installs works in landscapes as varied as New York’s East River and Chile’s Atacama Desert, revealing the invisible systems and forces at play within these sites. The artist’s work has been exhibited widely in the United States and Europe.
This program is free and open to the public.
