About the exhibition

Reflections: Surface and Substance features artists who engage the artistic potential of reflection, both in the physical sense of the specular movement of light, and in the metaphorical sense of reflection as a type of thought. The exhibition examines the ways in which materials that reflect light, ranging from glitter and glass to mirrors, crystals, and highly polished surfaces, are used in contemporary art.

Presenting work across media, including painting, sculpture, photography, and video, the exhibition features 16 accomplished contemporary artists from the United States, France, Germany, Jamaica, and China, including: Kelly Akashi, Akea Brionne, Kiah Celeste, Patty Chang, Vicky Colombet, Al Freeman, Liang Hao, Timothy Horn, Dave McKenzie, Ebony G. Patterson, Anselm Reyle, Anastasia Samoylova, Paul Mpagi Sepuya, Trevor Shimizu, Alyson Shotz, and Charisse Pearlina Weston.
