About the exhibition

Noise Prism is an installation that transforms music and light into an immersive, sensory overload experience. Fractal and resonance-like patterns illuminate the walls in various gradations of color creating mesmerizing geometries that move with the density and texture of the sound. Inspired by the mystery of black hole event horizons and sensory overload experiences, the work immerses the viewer in a constantly shifting chaotic space. Light fractures, shadows ripple, and noise becomes structure—inviting the audience to step inside a prism where noise turns into form.

Maxwell Tfirn is composer and performer based in Newport News, Virginia, where he holds the position of Director of Creative Studies at Christopher Newport University. He holds a Ph.D. and M.A. from the University of Virginia, an MA in Music Composition from Wesleyan University, and a BM in Music Education as well as a performance certificate in percussion from the University of Florida. His work has been presented at numerous festivals and conferences for leading musical associations including the International Computer Music Association, the Society for Electro-Acoustic Music in the United States, the Electro Acoustic Barn Dance, the Society of Composers, FEAST Festival, Technosonics, the National Student Electronic Music Event, and the Subtropics Music Festival.
