About the exhibition
Every spring, the Torggler showcases the talents of young artists in our community through the annual Prefaces exhibition. The exhibition presents work by full-time students in grades 10 through 12 attending public, private, or parochial high schools in Newport News, Hampton, Poquoson, York County, Williamsburg, and James City County, as selected by their teachers. Home-schooled students ages 14–18 are also welcome to submit their work.Awards will be presented for Best in Show, as well as First, Second, Third, and Fourth Places. Additional Merit Awards and Honorable Mentions will also be given. Awards are generously sponsored by the Tidewater Chapter of The Society, Inc. The awards will be judged and presented by Truly Matthews, Deputy Director and Director of Education & Engagement at the Virginia Museum of Contemporary Art, on Sunday, February 23 at 2:00 pm.
