FALL | Hand-building Ceramics | Clay Without the Wheel

Slow down and discover the creativity of hand-built ceramics in this eight-week class. Transform raw clay into beautiful handmade pieces using traditional techniques like coiling, pinch forms, and slab construction.

Beginners will build confidence by learning foundational skills, creating functional pieces such as mugs, bowls, and small sculptures. Intermediate and advanced students will expand their skills by experimenting with complex forms and surface treatments. All students will receive personalized guidance in a relaxed studio environment.

Whether you're new to ceramics or continuing your clay journey, this supportive class offers space to create, explore, and bring your ideas to life.

Tools and one 25lb bag of clay are provided. Additional bags may be purchased for $25.00 each. Please note that your work may require additional time for proper drying and firing, up to a week after class ends. You will be notified when to collect your work.

FALL | Beginner Wheel Throwing

Get started in wheel-thrown pottery! In this eight-week class, designed for beginners, an experienced potter will guide you through every step, from the initial stages to the final touches. You'll master essential techniques such as centering the clay, raising walls to form your vessel, trimming for a refined finish, pulling handles for pieces like mugs, and glazing your creations with vibrant colors. By the end of the course, you'll have created several beautiful, finished ceramic pieces!

All clay and necessary supplies will be provided; we simply ask that you bring a towel to class. Please note that your work may require additional time for proper drying and firing, typically up to one week after the class concludes. You will be notified when your work is ready for collection.

FALL | From Sketch to Studio | Developing Your Drawing Skills

This class is designed for both beginner and intermediate artists who wish to refine their drawing skills, cultivate a unique artistic style, and advance their creative journey. Through structured lessons, new students will gain foundational knowledge, while those with prior experience will enhance their skills and explore new techniques.

The curriculum incorporates lectures exploring artistic principles, demonstrations of various drawing methods and applications, hands-on exercises offering practical experience and skill development, and constructive critiques fostering growth through feedback and discussion.

A comprehensive materials list will be provided via email before the first session.

FALL | Watercolor | A Personal Journey

Join us for an 8-week watercolor journey designed to inspire artists of all skill levels, from absolute beginners to advanced students. Together, we will master essential techniques like washes, glazing, wet-on-wet, and dry brushing. Moving beyond the basics, we will also explore foundational artistic elements—including line, value, color theory, texture, and composition. A supply list will be provided via email before the class begins.

FALL | Next Steps in Wheel Throwing | Refine and Create

This wheel-throwing ceramic class is perfect for potters who want to continue to build their ceramics skills. This 8-week class will allow students to improve their throwing techniques and create unique forms and vessels utilizing techniques including centering, bringing up walls, pulling handles, trimming, surface treatments, and glazing.

FALL | Nature's Textures | Drawing and Painting

Designed for both teens and adults at all skill levels, this 5-part class, led by professional artist and teacher Jenn Clemons, invites you to explore working with the fascinating combination of graphite, water-based oil paint, and walnut oil on a large wood panel. This distinctive technique allows you to create rich, soft textures and deep, evocative shadows that are often challenging to achieve with traditional pencils alone. Guided by Jenn's personal examples, you will learn how to translate the inherent beauty of trees and organic forms into your own artwork. Throughout the session, you will refine your blending and shading skills as you develop a finished piece that bridges the realms of drawing and painting.

Provided materials include a 24” x 36” wood panel. Students will also be prompted in advance to supply a reference image.

FALL | The Art of Glazing 2.0

This five-part class is a continuation of the beginning glaze class, exploring new creative possibilities and the technical side of glazing in depth. Participants do not have to take the two classes in order; however, it is preferred. Through demonstrations, hands-on practice, and guided discussion, students will build both technical understanding and confidence in developing unique surface finishes.

Over the course of the class, we will test tiles and glaze foundations (class 1); understand the different glaze types (class 2); explore Shino glazes (class 3); experiment with washes (class 4); and delve into underglazes (class 5). 

By the end of the class, you will have a deeper understanding of glaze chemistry, application methods, kiln firing basics, and creative techniques you can continue to explore in your own ceramic practice.

FALL | Introduction to the Art of Glazing

This five-part class introduces ceramic artists to the fundamentals and creative possibilities of glazing. Participants will explore different glaze types, learn how to apply them effectively, and explore popular and experimental techniques. Through demonstrations, hands-on practice, and guided discussion, students will build both technical understanding and confidence in developing unique surface finishes.

Over the course of the class, we will test tiles and glaze foundations (class 1); understand the different glaze types (class 2); explore contemporary glazing techniques and kiln basics (class 3); learn about the peacock method (class 4); and delve into the frozen pond technique (class 5).

By the end of the workshop, you will have a deeper understanding of glaze chemistry, application methods, kiln firing basics, and several creative techniques you can continue exploring in your own ceramic practice.

FALL | Introduction to Darkroom Photography

Join us on a six-part journey into the timeless art of black-and-white darkroom photography. Designed to introduce students to the process of creating black-and-white prints from start to finish, this hands-on class will guide you through the essentials of developing film, mastering the enlarger, and exploring unique special effects and pinhole camera techniques. While disposable black-and-white film cameras will be provided, students are welcome to bring their own film cameras if preferred.

Throughout the course, a strong emphasis will be placed on understanding composition and lighting to enhance your photographic vision, with the majority of class time dedicated to darkroom experiences.

FALL | Layers of Light | Exploring Encaustic

Experience the magic of painting with wax in this beginner-friendly workshop! This three-part course is your introduction to the exciting world of encaustic art, where you'll learn to manipulate melted beeswax, damar resin, and colorful pigments to create stunning visual effects. We'll guide you through fundamental techniques, from layering and fusing to incising and adding texture. You'll have everything you need to create your own unique encaustic painting. No prior experience is necessary—just a desire to explore this beautiful and ancient art form.
