Monster Color Mash-Up

Get ready for a wild and energetic artistic adventure inspired by the book Monsters Love Colors by Mike Austin. In this vibrant camp, young artists will dive into the world of color mixing, scribble-making, and imaginative creature design. Just like the monsters in the story, campers will explore how new colors are made as they paint, draw, and sculpt their own colorful monster masterpieces. Through playful hands-on projects, students will learn the basics of the color wheel while celebrating the joy of messy, creative expression. This camp is perfect for little monsters who love to explore, experiment, and bring their own wild characters to life!

Year of the Horse

Giddy up for a creative journey through the world of horses! In this camp, young artists will explore the beauty and whimsy of the horse using a mix of painting, drawing, and sculpting. Campers will be inspired by Eric Carle’s book, The Artist Who Painted a Blue Horse. Discover the heritage of the Swedish Dala Horse to create inspired masterpieces. Dive into the magical, celestial wonders of Moonhorse, written by Mary Pope Osborne, and create art inspired by the hilarious antics of A Horse Named Steve by Kelly Collier.

Under the Big Top

Step right up to a whimsical artistic adventure! Inspired by Esphyr Slobodkina's delightful sequel, Circus Caps for Sale, young artists will follow Pezzo the Peddler as he brings his famous stacked caps to the big top. In this camp, children will dive into the vibrant world of the circus, using their imaginations to design and craft their own collections of colorful, stacked caps. Through hands-on painting, drawing, and multimedia projects, campers will explore the excitement of a circus parade and the playful antics of the peddler’s journey.

Radiant Rays

Join us for a week of sparkling creativity as we explore the magic of light and color! This camp invites little artists to capture the energy of the sun through dazzling sun catchers made with a variety of translucent materials, from vibrant tissue paper to faux-stained glass. Campers will learn how the sun's rays can transform their artwork into glowing masterpieces that dance on the walls. Through hands-on building and experimental painting, students will discover the science of the spectrum as they create beautiful, light-filled treasures to hang in their windows at home.

Jungle Jam

Sunken Secrets - Pirate Art Adventure

Island Adventure - A Journey of Imagination

In this imaginative camp, young adventurers will become the creators of their own make-believe islands, each centered around a unique and fantastical theme. From islands made of candy to floating tropical jungles, the only limit is your imagination. Using Gelli Plate printing and a variety of mixed-media techniques, campers will capture the landscapes, creatures, and hidden secrets of their islands. Throughout the week, students will track their creative journey by assembling these vibrant prints and textures into a personalized Book of Adventures, a one-of-a-kind visual diary of their legendary discoveries.

Sea Stories

Dive into a week of aquatic adventure where young artists explore the mysteries of the deep blue sea and journey through vibrant coral reefs to discover colorful marine life. Campers will illustrate a personal visual diary to capture the landscapes and hidden secrets of the ocean while transforming ordinary stones into shimmering painted treasures with vibrant colors and patterns. Young artists also develop fine motor skills by crafting textured ocean cards through the art of lacing and pattern-making. To complete their underwater journey, students will use a mix of foam, paper, and various textures to construct a 3D coral reef that can be viewed from every angle.

Mosaic Magic

Step into a world of vibrant color and texture in this hands-on workshop! Young artists will explore the ancient and beautiful art of mosaic-making, learning how to transform small, colorful materials into masterpieces. Campers will create patterned designsand explore "tessellation" as they carefully arrange and adhere colorful tiles to create their own custom works of art. Through this creative process, students will learn about the history of mosaics while developing their fine motor skills. Under our instructor's guidance, campers will experiment with color theory and light, discovering how different textures and shades can bring a flat surface to life

The Art of the Night Sky

Join us for a celestial journey where campers will explore the wonders of the cosmos, learning about the shimmering constellations and the ancient stories hidden within the stars. We will dive into the myths behind famous celestial figures like the Great Bear, the brave hunter Orion, and the soaring wings of Cygnus, while discovering how different cultures used these patterns to tell legendary tales. Using a variety of materials, including shimmering paints, textured collage, and mixed media, campers will design their own unique masterpieces inspired by the constellations.

Classes that are full will have a waiting list. You can sign up for the waiting list for a specific class by calling (757) 594-0800.

Cancellation Policy

Unless otherwise stated during the registration process, you must cancel your class reservation at least 14 days in advance to receive a full refund minus a $25 administrative fee. Cancellations received at least seven days before the start of class will receive a 50% refund minus a $25 administrative fee. Cancellations received less than seven days before the start of class are not eligible for a refund. To request a refund, please call the Torggler at (757) 594-0800.

Please note that the cancellation policy may vary for certain workshops. In this case, the cancellation policy will be provided during the registration process.
